Hi I wonder if anyone can help ?
My mum and dad were both transferred from IB around 2012/2013 to ESA
My mum was and is in receipt of DLA.
My dad started receiving DLA around 2013
My dad has been in receipt of a works pension during these years till now.
He received a letter saying he may be entitled to backdated money.
They would both like to know, will his pension affect this entitlement?
hopefully this makes sense

Hi @confuseddotcom
I have just been doing some research for you on your “Pension” question.
Yes it looks like you need to inform them.
The letter that they have received is about the back pay for there “ESA’s”
I don’t know if it will cover your pension question???
Please please let me know if I can help you further with this????0 -
Thank you very much for your help on this.
Yeah his pension needs to be included as household income just wondering if that will mean they were not entitled to the extra money and may not receive a backdated payment if it’s means tested or anything. I tried to explain this to them but they don’t get it so thought I’d try here to save anymore confusion lol.0 -
Hi,A pension is counted as income when claiming a means tested benefit. Are they claiming ESA as a couple or each claiming individually?0
-
They’re married each have own illnesses so I think it’s individual claims.0

You need to check because it's impossible to give advice to a 3rd party without having all the exact information.
