hi was wondering if anybody could help, I had pip tribunal yesterday and won, was already awarded enhanced mobility but nothing on daily living. Have now been awarded enhanced daily living backdated to my original claim November 2017. I have had to pay council tax as my daughter lives at home and is classed as a non dependant, does anybody know if council tax that I have had to pay will be refunded as with now having daily living I don’t have to pay any??

Hi,Council tax reduction is different and there's no non dependent deductions. There's a 25% single person deduction but you would need to live with no other adults for this to apply to you. Your PIP award doesn't apply in this instance.Non dependent deductions apply to housing benefit only. If you claim housing benefit then your PIP daily living award will mean that there won't be any deductions from your housing benefit. https://england.shelter.org.uk/housing_advice/benefits/housing_benefit_deductions_when_living_with_non-dependantsThe housing benefit can be backdated to the start of your PIP award.

Thankyou for you reply I have spoken to my council and they said that it does make a difference on council tax rate but have to wait for my award to be in the system.
