It took me two years, and I am also on the classic pension.
-
The civil service certainly don't like to rush things !!
-
The good thing about being a CSP is that they're always on time each month on pension pay day.
-
Couple of months in my case after having my GP confirm the position.
-
I had to go through RAF and RN doctors, although I was a civil servant in the MOD. I wonder if it's different depending on which branch we work for ?
-
Well I was TUPED
from MOD into Carillionamey and then into Amey.
I have been off unwell now for 7 months and have only seen or heard from my manager on three occasions. It appears that Amey use a private medical company MEDIGOLD and although I have authorised the release of medical info they are dragging their heels in doing so. This is having a negative impact on my mental health issues.

I retired about 16 years a go now so it's probably changed a bit.
Sounds like it's going to be a long drawn out affair like my retirement !!
Have you got a welfare officer and union rep, both were very helpful for me and tried to keep the management on their toes. -
I had the same problem when releasing my medical records, once they got them everything came to a standstill for several months.
During the 2 year process they actually asked me if I wanted to resign instead.
They even hinted about a possible redundancy as well.
I stuck it out for my pension. -
Not hearing much from your line manager also happened to me. After a few weeks staff section took over and all contact from then on was through them.
I left things between my union rep, welfare officer and staff section, I just turned up when required for meetings or medicals.
-
Thanks for the response
I dread to think how long it will take seems to me all they are interested in is hitting targets. -
Changed days no union reps no welfare reps just HR who are not interested
-
It seems never ending when you go through it but it's worth it when it's all over.
Most people who I've met over the years who took medical retirement have said it's taken between one and two years from start to finish.
