Dockless bikes causing problems for people with visual impairments
A visually impaired historian says the growing popularity of dockless bikes has made getting around a struggle on a daily basis.
Dr Amy Kavanagh recently filmed herself walking through Kings Cross in London, aided by her white cane, when she found her path blocked by bikes. What followed was an ‘obstacle course’ as she struggled to get around them. Dockless bikes have been promoted internationally as an environmentally friendly way to get more people to cycle to work without the need for the infrastructure that docked bikes require. However, for visually impaired people like Amy, they are proving to be a real hazard.
