My husband has had his ftf interview. He currently gets the middle care rate and high rate mobility on DLA. If he is awarded the high rate daily living award will this be back dated to when his first phone call was..thank you.

PIP will not be backdated in these circumstances. If PIP is awarded, your husband will get DLA up to his first DLA pay day after the PIP decision is notified and then for a further four weeks. PIP starts the day after DLA ends. Regulation 17(1)(b)(ii) and (2)(a) of The Personal Independence Payment (Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2013 (SI 2013/387) (as amended) refers. This seems somewhat unfair, but the intention is to give those moving from DLA to PIP some certainty over what they will receive as a result of what is often a lengthy transition process. There is no certainty whether the PIP award will be more money, the same, less money or no award at all.

Hi @Valerie57, I wish your husband the best of luck with his claim. You are able to ring up a week after the assessment and request a copy of the report. This will give you an indication of the award he will be entitled to.
