NICE seeks to address care 'variations' for adults with CP

Adults with cerebral palsy should receive the same access to specialist care as children with the condition do, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellent (NICE) has urged.

It has today published a draft document laying out recommendations for how health services could be improved for adults with cerebral palsy

The consultation on the quality standard closes on Monday 30 September 2019.

Just done this with 2 hats on.  Very good to see that communication/access to AAC is quite prominent.  Also interesting to see NICE's definition of "complex needs":

- Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS - a classification specifically for CP) 4 or 5 plus any of:

communication difficulties,

LDs,

in a long term care setting,

being cared for by frail or elderly parents OR with insufficient practical and social support,

multiple co-morbidities.

Scope do not appear to have the GMFCS descriptors on the website (could they be added please?) so I got this from CP Scotland https://cerebralpalsyscotland.org.uk/about-us/ranges-of-severity/gross-motor-skills
