What to wear on a mobility scooter in the rain?
Recommendation please:
Autumn had come & the rain is getting more frequent & the time has come to work out how I can stay dry on my wheelchair with powered tricycle attachment. I was wondering if those with experience could share tips, please?
I’ve seen a few options:
Poncho style with arms
Poncho style with clear window over handles/controls
Wheelchair cosy (+\- fleece lining) with normal raincoat
Wheelchair leg apron with normal raincoat.
(I don’t think mobility scooter rain canopy would attach to mine as back is manual wheelchair so not same shape as a scooter).
Any tips on ease of getting on, flexibility, is cheaper ok or less waterproof etc?
Thank you!!

I did some research and I found this https://ukcareguide.co.uk/mobility-scooter-covers/
Is this what you are looking for or not?1 -
Hi @Snowbelle I suppose you can look around forever before you find something to suit but I have the fully enclosed type with the clear front and a fitted hood. This link shows the cheapest I can find on eBay. No idea of its quality but I've only had to use mine once this year so I see no sense in paying silly money for it, although it might not be a great idea to simply choose on price alone.
As you say there's a vast selection to choose from. Good hunting.

Hi @Snowbelle , Sorry I don't have practical experience of such waterproof clothing, but have bought other items from this company. The good thing is you don't have to pay VAT if you're disabled (nothing complicated, just say you're disabled if you go to buy from here). Was just looking at this site hoping it would help someone else, & remembered your post too.As far as ebay goes, should you consider buying from there, please check any seller's feedback & return policy; whether they're UK based, & you could contact them for advice, or whether they're in China (as the above link) or Hong Kong. Here's the link I mentioned: https://www.completecareshop.co.uk/wheelchairs/wheelchair-clothing/or: https://www.completecareshop.co.uk/mobility-scooters/mobility-scooter-clothing/

I wear a hooded coverall and an apron for my legs and feet. Both waterproof and comfy to wear. Bought on ebay...about £20 each1

Thanks so much everyone.
@April2018mom - yes something like that. Just wondering if people have experience of one or more options to give some insight as to pros & cons of any of them.
exdvr thank you. Lol! Over here it barely stops raining so I might end up wearing mine a bit more than yours. We could do with a tester who waterproof tests all the options so we could choose based on that rather than price alone.
@chiarieds Thank you very much. I've bought some things from their before & they were helpful. Good points for ebay
Pollyanna1052. thanks. i hadn't thought of that combination. Someone on another forum mentioned they found a poncho-style one would blow up in the wind & leave a chill, but using it in combination with an apron would definitely help with that1 -
My poncho style top would blow up in the rain, but it has tapes to fasten it down..works well0

@Snowbelle A ski suit it's going to be be waterproof and warm and will have trouser legs to accomodate the need to have your legs open because of the scooter attachment for your chair0

Thanks so much for the info & suggestions @pollyanna1052 and @Jean Eveleigh1
