Hi all had the pip assessment on fri 11th and today have received a copy of there report ( very quick I know) from what I can see she recommends 6 points daily living 4 points mobility. I have severe copd and sent in evidence to support this. She has missed things from her report and ignored others. Do the decision makers always go with the report?

Hello, the decision makers mostly go with the recommendations of the assessment report. Remember pip is not awarded on a disability, diagnosis or the amount of medications that you are prescribed, but on your abilities to function preform the tasks, pip descriptors in a timely manner, safely and repeatedly I your daily living activities. When you get your award notification letter you can the request an MR within a month. You will need to concentrate and focus on the descriptors that you think you should have been awarded points giving examples of what happened or happens when you attempt or try to do, preform the descriptor you are writing about. On no account complain about inaccuracies of your assessment report or what the HP missed or never included as the MR DWP or if you take it all the way to tribunal level they are not and would be interested in these issues.

Yes I understand that and provided examples for each descriptor which were ignored so I will point them out again at mr

That will be standard for both parts and they usually go with the report.

No one on an internet forum can tell you whether you should request the MR once a decision's been made, This will totally depend on how your conditions affect you and whether or not it's possible to score more points for a higher award. Do be aware that by requesting the MR they will look at the whole decision again so you do risk losing everything you may already have. Of course most decisions do remain the same, with only 18% of decisions changing at that stage.

Thanks for your reply poppy it's a difficult decision.  But for instance the assessor has stated I got breathless walking the 8m into her room and took a minute to recover, and has then said I can walk 20 to 50m in the mobility section

    Hi @kentpete123

You should seek the guidance of a Welfare Rights Advisor, say your local CAB.

They will be able to give you definitive advice on what course of action is open to you.

Such advice will improve your chances at both the MR or Tribunal stages.

Have you been diagnosed with COPD, as per your breathlessness?
