Hi and welcome,You can refer yourself to your local council for a needs assessment. Someone will then come out to assess your needs and give you the aids/adaptions you need for free. See link. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/social-care-and-support-guide/help-from-social-services-and-charities/getting-a-needs-assessment/
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help. -

Hi @nowdisabled - Welcome to the community. Just to say when I ended up in hospital 3 years ago with a fractured hip, a raised toilet seat & a shower stool came home with me; the toilet seat even being fitted for me by one of the ambulance crew!If your surgery is planned, you might try ringing the hospital to find which ward you will be on, if you don't know, & ask if any aid you need will be made available in a similar manner. An occupational therapist organised this for me when I knew which day I would be discharged.Just another thought.

Talk to your OT. They should be able to help you. When my caree was in hospital on the NICU after his back op, I asked to see a pediatric occupational therapist. His old occupational therapist was somewhat helpful. Ask for a assessment to be done by a occupational therapist who has expertise in that particular area. All occupational therapists specialise. https://www.rcot.co.uk/suppliers

Welcome to the community @nowdisabled! Have you discussed this with the hospital? They should have physio's and occupational therapists on the ward which will be able to provide equipment before you are discharged. Failing that, the needs assessment that Poppy suggested will be the easiest route.
I hope your operation goes okay and please do let us know!Scope
