Hi all
I am considering getting a power chair to help me get out more independently. I currently have manual wheelchair and a mobility scooter. To use the scooter my son has to get it out for me. I thought if I had folding power chair I could keep it inside and transfer to it to get out and also use it when we go out to town etc as would fit in car boot. Has anyone any advice especially getting one through motability as I get enhanced pip but unable to drive car.
Any thoughts welcome

Hi, I had a previous powerchair via Motability. I wouldn't do it again. It cost almost 4k in DLA payments. The chair itself had badly designed foam armrests and it kept getting damaged with the slightest of knocks.
I feel it is better to get a chair through Wheelchair Services. They are much more knowlegable about what we need.

@pollyanna1052 Thanks I dont know if I would qualify through wheelchair services as I can use manual but obviously cant self propel up hills and long distances. I just want one for more independence and save my teenage son having to push me round everywhere

Hi @janer1967, I have found information from Motability which looks at the options available.
They also show you have much it would be a week out of your benefit and there is the option to trial the product.
I hope this is helpful.Scope -
Thanks @Chloe_Scope I had found this too but appreciate your trouble

I believe WS will not provide a chair if you can walk in your house. You need to have no mobility at all.
