Keeping positive under lockdown

'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain'We thought it would be nice to have a discussion on what you're doing to keep busy and keep positive while indoors, as well as a place to share any more positive news we find over the coming days.
So, how are you spending your time?
This week me and the kids are working on our rainbows that we'll then be sticking up in our windows. It's been good to see how many other households across the UK are joining in with the trend which you can read all about at Rainbow pictures springing up across the country (BBC)

Also made many sets of bunting to cheer folk up. My garden has them instead of the usual new plants I`d be potting up now.
Stay safe folks. x

Dog owners are lending their pooches to elderly relatives in a bid to stop them from feeling lonely while in isolation during lockdown – Daily Mail
Dog-owners are seemingly starting a new trend during coronavirus isolation - 'loaning' their pooches to their elderly relatives who may be feeling lonely whilst stuck inside.
In adorable photos shared on Twitter, a number of beloved dogs can be seen providing some much-needed support to the older generation, who are more at risk of contracting Covid-19.
Author Clare Pooley kicked off the heartwarming photo thread when she took to social media on Monday to share a photo of her 11-year-old border terrier, Otto, nestled on the lap of her father Peter, 83.
Little Otto seems perfectly at ease as he reclines on Peter, as Peter sat in an armchair reading a book.

Well done you 😊
Congratulations on passing your Maths GCSE. To keep trying until you achieve what you want to shows how dedicated you are! Well done!
Thank you for sharing a fantastic post. I have managed to keep busy with in a number of different ways. We too, have a rainbow in our window and it is so lovely to see so many across the country, it really does put a smile on people's faces. For me the highlight of this week was the Clap for our Carers applause on Thursday at 8pm. Myself and my family went into our back garden and clapped, with many of our neighbours doing the same, clapping, cheering and whistling. It was a very poignant experience and I feel showing our appreciation for what all those front line workers are doing is the very least we can do. They are true hero's! I have heard that there are calls for it to become a weekly event and I completely agree. Stay home, Protect the NHS, Save Lives! Thank you!
I'm very surprised you were able to do that because you're only supposed to go out for essentials and once a day for exercise. Going out to do things like this isn't really allowed during these strict lockdown conditions.
Well I'm going out exercising, walking and jogging did four hours today, also am doing house work, watching programmes on ufos and aliens, talking to my friends on Facebook, I'm practicing my singing, watching TV,

Positive news story!
This Neighborhood Has Been Staying Connected During Social Distancing With Creative ‘I Spy’ Game
She asked residents to tape paper shamrocks to their front windows or draw them in chalk on their driveways—anything that would be visible to kids walking by on the sidewalk—for a shamrock scavenger hunt. Neighborhood kids could tally up how many they spied and post to the Facebook group.
The neighborhood response was tremendous, so Nelson drew up a calendar through mid-April with other themed days, including Disney characters, Mario, hearts for health workers, dinosaurs, and a bunny hunt. To make the outings even more fun, Nelson encouraged the walkers to embrace the themes by dressing in costume.

The positive impacts on the environment since the coronavirus lockdown began
"This is the habitat they once had and that we've taken away from them," said Marcelo Giagnoni, the director of the agricultural and livestock service that took part in an operation to capture the puma alongside police and the national zoo.

Pink supermoon pictured shining brightly across the UK - Metro
Skywatchers across the UK looked upwards to capture pictures of the moon which, despite the name, didn’t turn a shade of pink.
Sometimes known as the Egg Moon, this supermoon is a combination of two astronomical phenomena, a full moon which happens while the orb is at its closest to the earth.
The April full moon is known as the pink moon because of the wild flowers that usually bloom at around the same time.

Stray kittens get to explore fish-filled aquarium while it’s closed by coronavirus - Metro
A group of stray kittens got to explore a fish-filled aquarium closed down by the coronavirus pandemic.
The four tiny tabbies were given the run of the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta on Monday and appeared very excited to take in their new surroundings.
An adorable video shared by the Georgia Humane Society showed several of the kittens pawing the glass eagerly while a group of jellyfish swum past.
Seemingly overwhelmed by its surroundings, another kitten was filmed mewing as it took in the beauty of another tank filled with brightly-coloured tropical fish.

Also now that we are having nice weather it is great to sit out in the garden for a while.
What's your course about? I hope you are enjoying it. Shame you have to pay for it. Would there not be any financial help with it?
My course is economics (A level). No financial help available sadly, I did check, but the way I see it is that my unemployment benefits and disability benefits are for things like this as then hopefully by the time I get better I will have the skills to get a job and pay it back in tax
Yes, I really enjoyed the courses, especially the one about pets as I love animals and wanted to understand more about my wee cat and how she thinks and acts. The courses keep the brain ticking over which is really important, but as you say, even more so at this time. Happy studying!
