Sdp

Hi, my daughter is in receipt of high rate pip for both elements, and is on universal credit, I think she should be entitled to sdp as I also get pip, I asked universal credit about this, they passed my query onto the sdp team, but they say that she should have claimed within 2 months of claiming uc, I was not in receipt of pip at that time so she would not have been eligible. Is this correct please?

Hi,Unfortunately there are no disability premiums at all (including SDP) payable when claiming UC. They are only payable when claiming the old legacy benefits such as Income Related ESA/JSA and Income Support. See link for confirmation.Hope this helps.

Thankyou, my other daughter is also in receipt of pip and is still in receipt of esa, would she be entitled to sdp?

You're welcome. It will depend on which ESA she's claiming. If she's claiming New style ESA then no, there's no disability premiums payable on this. If it's the old Income Related ESA then it will depend on who she lives with and whether anyone is claiming carers allowance or carers element of UC for looking after her.

She gets the old income related esa, nobody claims carers allowance for her and she lives with myself and her sister we are all in receipt of pip.

Then she will be able to claim the SDP and to claim it the quickest way is to ring DWP/ESA and ask to fill in the IS10 form to claim the SDP.
