Why won't my grandson's doctor give him the mental health support he needs?

Hi, My grandson is 17 and has aspergers syndrome .He is so unhappy and depressed and his doctor won't treat him .They refer him to camhs but they saw him a few times then discharged him.He got a place at college doing what he loves but is so depressed he won't go .I think he needs medication to lift his mood .Why won't his doctor treat him .

Have you, or has he, spoken to his college about the mental health problems he's facing at the moment? They might have some in-house counselling that he could access in the meantime.
Have you tried asking to see a different doctor at the GP surgery, or switching GP surgeries? Unfortunately, not all GPs are understanding, but there are ones out there who'll do their best to help your grandson get the support he needs.
It could also be worth getting in touch with the National Autistic Society, who might know of some organisations or resources that could help.
