Just had a phone call from the nursing home - Father in Law only been there a week and he's had a fall. hit his nose and paramedics think he needs stitches so back to the hospital now - just hope he's not left un attended as he will try to escape.0
-
Oh @SueHeath I hope he gets patched up and is safe and well soon, this sounds quite familiar and reminds me of my grandad, who had more and more falls as time went on in his nursing home, due to Parkinson's disease. After a little while he wasn't so interested in escaping either!
It can be quite a sad thing to see at times, but we knew that he was in the safest place, and it took away a lot of our worries compared to when he was still living at home
Do you know if he's there on a temporary basis?0 -
Hi @Alex_Scope Father in laws got dementia with challenging behaviour poor man has been in hospital since February this placement is for assessment but if he does settle okay and they have room we will keep him there. It's further away from us then we wanted but as you have probably heard there is a lot of problems with places being available, especially in the more secure nursing homes.0
-
Well I'm glad they can keep him there if he settle's okay, I'm sure moving again might make him more anxious and distressed.
I am sorry to hear though. I knew a few friend's of older relatives who completely changed with their dementia, and became quite aggressive when they just weren't anything like that before.
Keep us updated with how he gets on, hopefully he can recover from his fall soon.0 -

Hopefully, being back in brace on crutches and appt with the consultant on Monday will help.

Up with the lark this morning, too hot to lay in.
Had egg on toast with bacon for breakfast, I don’t remember the last time I had that, years ago. I actually wanted cornflakes and ice cold milk with sugar but...haven’t got any of those things!
Then i went for a short walk, I’m losing a bit of weight anyway.
stay cool everyone.😎0 -
Yes he could sit outside bur he isn't really one for sitting in the sun
He will be on his xbox no doubt after he done some homework0 -
“Grumpy” is coming today and has lots of problems going on which no doubt will be everyone else’s fault.
I think I’ll be upstairs a lot for the next few days and posting on here for a bit to keep me occupied!!!
Hope I don’t sound unsympathetic, I am sympathetic, I just don’t understand people taking their issues out on others.0 -

I agree @janer1967 rest when you can darling - bless him i bet the pain is horrible.
Just as long as they let him back to the nursing home - he's had far to much time spent in hospital xxx0 -
The manager of the home said he had been restless all day and going round trying the doors, he's an escape artist @janer1967 and tired himself out. He's not allowed his walking stick because of his aggression xxx0

I’ve been helping set up tables for an old fashioned jumble sale this morning. Hot work but necessary.0
