Hi @Lou67 I'm fine thank you hope you are ok as well.
I've not done much today apart from a bit of cleaning as I was at a stage in my book where I couldn't put it down and I was determined to finish it. I'm glad to say I finished the book and fully enjoyed it.
Hope your all ok and have had a good day today.1 -
Good morning all
I was up a few times last night

Morning all, hope you're doing well
Tipped it down here last night in-all. Showed up that our guttering needs cleaning and there's a small drip leak in the roof where the soil pipe vent is... Hopefully the Landlord decides this is worth fixing unlike some of the other issues we've reported.0 -
@Jimm_Scope
I know what landlords can be like, we don't rent but we live next to a rental property and know the landlord. He once tried to get us to change the fence on his side and pay 100% of the price and get the neighbour on the other side to pay 100% of the price so he got his fences changed for free!
That said we know another couple of "good" landlords and know that some tenants can be just as bad.0 -
Morning all I hope yous have a good day despite the gloomy weather.
My daughters taking me for some shopping soon, not much else planned.
@Jimm_Scope
Hi I hope your landlord sorts out the guttering, I don’t think he’d be happy if you held back rent till any issues are sorted. Fingers crossed it gets done.

He's been mostly nice, let us have a cat, but he's reluctant to do certain larger repairs like to the roof. We had birds in our roof in summer because the rake(? the bit just below the tiles but before the bricks) of the roof has worn away so much. But to repair it would be 1500-2000 or more so he didn't want to do it. He just went up on a ladder and put solidifying foam here and there. The birds just used it as nesting material I think.
I mean, I live here, I tell him the issues with his property. If he let's it fall into disrepair it's his loss not mine, as long as the leak isn't so bad to damage my stuff (which it isn't).
@Lou67 enjoy the day with your daughter1 -
Like proper autumn here, high winds and heavy rain. Nurse said bloods are OK doing well but need to go a little further getting sugars on target. Don't know what receptionist was on about0

Looking a touch more grim today @66Mustang but I'm having an alright day.
Don't think my partners tomatoes are gonna live much longer.0 -
@Jimm_Scope do you (or your partner if you have access to them at the moment!) know anything about raspberries?
My Granny paid for the deposit on my Motability car and I want to buy her something as a small thank you. I thinking of a plant, then thought about an edible plant, then about raspberries because those are her favourite fruit.
She is not able bodied and needs something very easy to maintain. She is able to sprinkle some water, pick weeds and of course pick the fruits which she enjoys doing but not anything more like pruning. She enjoys growing strawberries and tomatoes at the moment to give you an idea of what she is able to do.0 -
Hi @66Mustang I've got raspberries growing in the garden. They disappear in winter and come back spring. I recommend a long narrow tub to grow them in as they do try to take over the garden.
Its really cold today just trying todo grocery shop, it's taking for ever as every time I try Check out things go out of stock. But look in stock on the site.0 -
@Sandy_123 thanks for the tips!! I am planning on getting a tub for them so the tip about a narrow one is a good one thanks.
I hope you get the shop done soon, can imagine thats frustrating..0 -
I've come off for a bit doing my head in lol. When the stems get too tall will need a stick to tie them too. Also the birds will have their beady eye on the fruit. Grandkids like picking them to eat.0

Is a net a good idea? Or is there something else that stops the birds?
Also, if they die off over Winter, maybe raspberries are an idea for a Spring present (her birthday is in Spring). I sort of want to get something that looks nice when I deliver it if that makes sense rather than like a twig in some mud ha ha0 -
Yes spring will be ideal best time to plant it, after frosts are gone. You can put a net over it but the birds are quite clever. I put a scarecrow on the strawberries but they were like wahoo.0

Oh I see thanks0

Afternoon all.
Wild and windy here today.0
