I've just had a peep at the forecast and we've got eight days of rain to look forward to.

Hah, I think it's definitely the weather for it!  I'll be making several cups today. :)

eight days of rain ahead?  That calls for a lot of chai tea.

Oh good enjoy your walk after.
The rain has eased here just now so think I will go my walk just now before it comes back on.

    @Teigr
We also have a lot off rain forecast here this week to, the joys eh 🤦‍♀️

Our plans for today have been scuppered. :(

The "grumpy relative" has invited themselves round for a cup of tea, which usually takes them about four hours.

I knew something was wrong when we had a free day today! That does not happen in our family!

One good thing though, it's raining, so if we went for a drive it wouldn't have been the most exciting drive anyway.

Could you not hide under the stairs when they knock on the door @66Mustang?

    It's what I'd do.

That would have been a good idea @Teigr , they were very grumpy today

I actually think they are borderline a bully to my Mum who cares for them, but she won't do anything about it

I think that's often the case isn't it - people who have care from a family member or friend often start being a bit off with their carer

@Teigr yeah, age seems to be making things worse in my relative's case as well.

Today she asked us for help to send a text message to, apparently, Royal Mail. She received a message asking for her details and payment information so they could send her a missing parcel. She was half way through replying but after making sure she hadn't ordered anything or was expecting anything we pointed out this was a scam. We got a load of abuse in return. I put it down to her being embarrassed? Perhaps we should have just let her go ahead with giving her details away?

We had similar with Mr Teigr's mum one Christmas @66Mustang.In her case it was a genuine letter from her bank but she wouldn't have it until we drove her to the nearest branch(eight miles away)where she tried to force a cashier to make a phone call on her behalf.
The poor guy tried to explain that he couldn't do that because it would require him to provide information that he didn't have access to but she wouldn't let it go.
The cashier asked if she'd be happy with him dialling the number and handing the phone to her,she was far from happy but did agree to it eventually and whoever she spoke to was able to calm her down.

    I could've strangled her.

My step mum is exactly the same @66Mustang I do think it's down to frustration and embarrassment a lot of the time.

Sorry to hear that @Teigr, I can just imagine how you felt!!

I don't know how some people who work in customer service do what they do. They must have some sort of superhuman patience.

That said my relative has been cut off on more than one occasion by various customer services for being unpleasant over the phone. :D

@Albus_Scope thanks, I am glad to hear it (though sorry as well) as it seems we aren't in a unique situation

Is your relative my stepmum @66Mustang ?  They do sound almost identical haha.

And yes, working in customer service demands a very strong will and thick skin.  Always be nice to the people on the other end of the phone please folks. ;)

Yeah I always take the opinion that myself and the customer service rep are there trying to sort out the same issue so we need to work together, not against each other. If they can't do something for whatever reason just thank them for their time and move on to whatever the next port of call for support is.
