Don’t know I feel like I don’t fit the hearing world or the deaf world0
-
These are quite a few hearing impaired members on here who maybe you can connect with and we have a section for this too
Do you have any hearing aids or support at all0 -
I have hearing aids but I hate wearing because they make one of my other conditions worse I suffer with quite few conditions which makes things complicated0
-
I'm sorry to hear that there are lots different types out there maybe worth looking into
My mum went to a private clinic for hers however they were very expensive0 -
We can’t afford private ones0
-
Sorry about that hope other members can offer you some more practical advice0

Welcome to the community
I'm sorry to hear that too @marybottomley. What specifically do you feel stops you from being fully part of the 'hearing world' and the 'deaf world'? Have you spoken to a specialist about not always being able to wear your hearing aids?
Just to let you know, I've moved your post into the visual and hearing impairments category.1 -

There can be more issues than just hearing loss which can all be part of Audiology, such as Misaphonia, Hyperacusis, Auditory Processing Disorder, and many more related issues.
Hearing aids only help with hearing loss, and not with most other areas of audiology, where they can make experiences worse or provide no help at all.
You could have a look at some of my PubMed Audiology Research paper collections which may help explain issues. Some PubMed Audiology Research Papers Collections1 -

Misaphonia and Hyperacusis are both part of the Tinnitus Syndrome.
Misaphonia is the most recently to be identified in recent years.
You could have a look at the British Tinnitus Association web site which includes links to local support,
https://www.tinnitus.org.uk
I hope this helps0 -
Hi @marybottomley and I'm sorry to hear you are struggling. I have had hearing loss for over 4 years now and i still struggle with adapting to it. Hearing aids and amplifiers do not work for me, i'm waiting to be referred to a specialist hearing clinic to hopefully find something which will help.
I have Bilateral Sensorineural Hearing Loss and Tinnitus too (along with other conditions). If you need someone to talk to, i'm usually on here most nights0 -
thankyou0
