Covid vaccination as a carer

Hi everyone,
My daughter who is disabled and receives PIP / UC at the enhanced rate has had her Covid vaccine, and the nurse who saw us said I can register to get it, as I provide care for her. BUT I don't receive Carer's Allowance as I earn over the threshold. Is there any way to get it, as I still provide at least 35 hours of care per week, but don't get the benefit?

Hi Pippa. I do know of unpaid carers that are being called up now. Perhaps you could ring GP surgery, the receptionist will be able to advise I’m sure.

Hi @PippaT1966, I believe your GP surgery should have you coded as a carer. You could give them a call to discuss this. Your daughter's PIP may be evidence enough.
Do you claim any benefits at all? I'm just wondering if you'd be entitled to the carer element of Universal Credit.Community Manager

Thank you. I called my GP and they insisted this was nothing to do with them, and they couldn't add her to the list. I can't claim UC as I work full time and earn more than the threshold.

If you are your daughter’s unpaid carer, then you can register this at your GPs. My son is registered as mine. We go the same surgery, but I wouldn’t have thought it would make any difference if we attended different surgeries.

They should be able to mark your record as a carer @PippaT1966. See here: https://www.carersuk.org/help-and-advice/health/looking-after-your-health/your-gpCommunity Manager
