edited April 2021 in Universal Credit (UC)
Hi I'm worried if someone could help clear something up for me as I'm not really getting anywhere on my journal. I first applied for UC had my assessment and was awarded LCW in July 2019. In August 2020 I then done a change of circumstance and added a totally new condition from the one where I was awarded LCW and I have now been awarded LCWRA. Should I be due some backdated money if this is a whole new condition? I know they don't pay for the first 3 months but I thought it would be backdated from November?

The LCWRA should be backdated to when you reported the change which triggered the new assessment.

@calcotti that's what I thought aswell but that said they would let me know in 7 working days if I was due any money and I've not received or heard anything since my decision on the 16th so I'm not really sure and like I said messaging in my journal has got me no where

It can take a while they dont always meet the suggested 7 -10 days

When you put your query un your journal put it as a payment query when it asks this will then go to your case manager rather than general enquiry

@calcotti they are saying that assessments do not overlap and my old assessment was up for renewal and they've taken it from that so I won't be due any backpayment. This doesn't seem right to me ?

My understanding is that if the assessment was initiated in response to you reporting a change of circumstances then it should be backdated, if it was initiated by DWP as a review it would go from date of decision.
