Have you been treated badly by a lettings agency

Hi how your all OK.
I'm a carer and we have recently been treated very badly by an estate agency.
A contractor did a repair and told the letting agent I let my adult son use the ensuite as a toilet.
There was a residue of mango shower gel thats all it was not urine.
We've had endless contractors in the house spanning 16 months its been a nightmare.
The landlord rang me and is furious and
I think I've got too find somewhere else too live .
Very stressed and upset.
Any advice anyone please.

So sorry you have had such a rough time. Is it worth giving citizens advice a ring and see what they say. I am not much help I am afraid I am sure other forum users will be of more use. I just wanted to say hi and give a virtual hug.

If I'm reading this correctly. there has been a big misunderstanding by your landlord. As a former landlord, & having initially employed an estate agency, I can see where mis-communication might occur (altho I had no problems with the estate agency I used), when you get an incorrect viewpoint from one, which is then passed onto the landlord, perhaps, which it seems, this is where the problem occurred.I'm sure this has all stressed you, but I would suggest contacting your landlord to fully explain where errors have crept in.Hope you can resolve this; it's worth a try, & please let us know how you get on. My best wishes.

Hello @19681989
Sorry to hear about this situation, I can understand why it has upset you. It does seem as though there has been a misunderstanding somewhere along the line, have you had open channels of communication with your landlord or letting agent to have your chance to explain the situation?Online Community CoordinatorConcerned about another member's safety or wellbeing? Thank you all for the replys very kind.
I have been in touch regarding these issues to the agency and contractor too Lodge a complaint .

Good to hear that you've already made some progress and been in touch with the lettings agency and the relevant contractor @19681989.
As a couple of other members have already mentioned, depending on how things go with them, it might be worth your while to get in touch with either Shelter or Citizens' Advice. Just in case you need a bit of additional support?
I hope that you manage to resolve this fairly quickly. Do keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

Hi I've been in touch with shelter .
They have given me advice but say its very common to experience what I have.
That you can be evicted for any reason and although its unfair that's how it is.
I ve been in touch with legal aid and they do not cover this type of issue
So you can be given notice ,and there's nothing you can do.
Basically letting agents and landlords can do whatever they want.
Very stressed and sad.

I'm very sorry to read this @19681989 - I didn't realise you'd been given notice, This goes so much against what I did, always listening & helping our tenant. Have you tried talking to your landlord?
-
I'm glad that you managed to speak to somebody at Shelter @19681989. I know that's probably not what you wanted to hear. But at least you've been in contact with them. And so, if anything does change, you might also be able to go back to them and ask them for some more advice about your situation as well.
I know that you've said you've been in touch with the lettings agency and the contractor. Have you heard anything back from them yet? If not, might it be an idea to contact them again next week? Just to try and get an update and some reassurance about where you stand?
As a couple of other people have said as well, hopefully this can all be resolved, if you're able to make it clear to the landlord that there's been a misunderstanding?
I am really sorry that this has made you feel so stressed and sad as well. That's completely understandable. Is there anybody around to help support you with this? Maybe a family member, or a friend or neighbour? Anybody you could chat to, just to try and put your mind at rest for the time being? If not, then please do feel free to stick around and chat to us on the community. We'll do our best to provide you with a bit of moral support in the meantime
