Can I take a lump sum from a work injury, and some inheritance, off of what my total capital is?

I had been on UC in 2018 but things are a bit different for me now because my capital is over I'm not entitled to it.

I know all benefits must be declared and capital under 16,000 but I know PIP is not considered etc.

I had sum of money from a work injury in 2008 which they know about as I had been on Industrial Injury Benefit and some money from my Gran when she passed away which my parents gave me so around 2800,  do I take the 2800 off what my total capital is?  I still have paper work for my eligibility for IIDB somewhere just am unsure about money from parents gave me from my Gran, I assume that'll still need to be declared but as so old am unsure take the money off what got left from the compensation or not etc.

How long you have had the money is not relevant.

Compensation payments for injury are only ignored for 52 weeks unless the money is placed in trust.

calcotti ok thanks since 2011 but only spent £1500 of the £3864 so the rest is in savings so I guess the rest will be treated as being placed in trust?

I am really unsure how to bring my capital down and only by December think I'll see being able to apply for UC and it's along wait.

I had thought of something; but am sure if be depreviatiton of capital; the mobile I have is rare and it's suitable for my hearing impairment, being deaf, I was thinking of getting a spare in case something goes wrong with my present phone as a backup. I have to rely on Iphones with being deaf. The other option was spare hearing aids swap between different sets daily to avoid infection in my ears, but if that breaks down too catch 22.

It’s not in trust unless you put it into a trust which you would have needed to do within a year of receiving it for it to be disregarded.
