Only one LCWRA element can be paid per UC claim. if you provide 35 hours of care to your wife you can claim the carer element (if nobody else gets Carer’s Allowance or the carer element of UC for looking after her).Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Rules may be different in other parts of UK.

Careers element. My daughter claims it for me. Do I claim it for the wife?

If you are providing 35 hours of care for your wife you can report this on your UC journal and you will be entitled to the carer element of UC (£163.73/month) - provided nobody else already gets Carer’s Allowance or the carer element of UC for looking after her. You could have been getting this since the start of your UC claim.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Rules may be different in other parts of UK.
