He helps me with lots of things at home as I am unable to stand or walk. Now he's going back to work , I am worried that I won't be able to cope.

    Hi Janer
I do have a wheelchair but Ive never used it around the house. Have you got one thats electrically operated?. I may have to think about a carer although I am so used to my husband helping while hes been on furlough. it's great you can manage most things from a chair. It is great to be independent, I really miss it

    Hi again

I have a manual chair I use round the house and electric for outside

Takes some getting used to but gives you some independence

Hi @JanetMor - & welcome to the community from me too. I hope you have found the advice & link useful. Do you think you'll be able to manage your wheelchair in the house?  :)

Hi Chiarieds, thank you for your welcome, I will have to try scooting along with the wheelchair in the house, I usually use a mobility
scooter outside of the house. I am worried mostly about getting food and drink as I am diabetic, I really need to have my kitchen adapted, I suppose.

    Hi

Would it be possible for your husband to make you up a flask of drink and some sandwiches or something to keep you going

Hi @JanetMar - it will be difficult in your kitchen, but if you could get your husband to organise it a little for you at the moment, perhaps that will help. I've been looking online, & if you don't already have something like this, perhaps it would help too, as a small workspace at the right height. Please see: https://www.completecareshop.co.uk/mobility-aids/wheelchair-accessories-and-add-ons/wheelchair-trays/economy-wheelchair-lap-tray
You might have a look around this online shop to see if there is anything else that would make life easier: https://www.completecareshop.co.uk/

Thank you so much, Chiarieds, the lap tray looks very useful and there are many other aids I think would be useful too.

I'm so pleased @JanetMar - & you're very welcome. It's a shop I've used myself, & seen another member here recommend too. They also supply the NHS. As you will see many prices are shown VAT exempt. You just need to complete a very simple online form.
