I originally with Green Energy network. Then out of the blue on a Monday morning they were declared bankrupt without warning to there staff and customers. Ofgem then referred all customers to EDF.
The referral has been one big headache the company had gone into registration and referral only completed last month.
My late WHD was then applied in which they have paid £140 and deducted £6.67 VAT, leaving £133.33 is this allowed. I thought WHD was means tested benefit for those on low income or certain benefits. Is VAT allowed to be deducted from your balance by energy company

From experience of getting it for 3 years running, I’ve never had VAT deducted, always had the full amount.

Hello @charlie79
Thanks for your post, and sorry to hear of the inconvenience all this has clearly caused you.
I'm not sure of the answer to this myself as I don't have any personal experience in this area, but you might be interested in contacting Scope's new support service for energy related matters. They would be happy to talk through what has happened with you and explore answers.Online Community CoordinatorConcerned about another member's safety or wellbeing? Flag your concerns with us.
