A whole month

Hi,
Just updating for anyone who is interested, it’s now been 1 month since I stopped drinking too much. That has actually gone quite quickly.
As some may know I was having quite a lot, maybe 2 pints and a few generous drams of whisky a night, to combat anxiety.
I have cut it down by 80%. I still enjoy something each night - a beer and sometimes a small measure of cognac or whisky (measured using a jigger so I know it's exactly 1 unit) but no longer am drinking it to combat anxiety, just because I like it. My average is now just above the recommend 14 unit allowance a week.
I am pleased with this achievement; my next step might be to have some days with 0 units. This should bring my weekly average down to well below the recommended limit.
Thanks for your support everyone.

Good achievement, coming off Alcohol can be hard especially in dark moments so I’m glad you’ve cut down.
Keep going pal1 -
You've got this @66Mustang very proud of you!1

Hi @66Mustang, well done, it's great that you've been able to stick to your decision!
I know it's not easy to change our habits so you deserve congratulations for doing so.
Good luck with your next steps, whatever you decide they should be.1 -
@66Mustang well done you keep it up1
-
@66Mustang - you have done this in a considered, thoughtful, & sensible way, which is not to undermine your achievement. Having an enjoyable drink rather than drinking to combat your anxiety, etc. is quite something.2

@66Mustang onwards and upwards1

Good going Mustang! Have you found an alternative method to combat the anxiety?1

Thanks everyone, your kind words mean a lot to me and I really have appreciated the support.
@woodbine very well done not having a cigarette for 17 days!
I definitely feel a lot better for it. Before, I was getting random anxiety for no reason. Now, I am still getting anxiety, but I can put my finger on the reason each time. Also, my doctor said if I drink less he may be able to prescribe something to help with the anxiety that before he wouldn't have been able to, so that's a positive3 -

Thank you all very much for the kind words, I can't explain very well but I don't have a network of friends in real life and it really helps me and makes me want to carry on knowing that there are people looking out for me on here.
Woodbine - I will definitely keep you updated! Thanks.3 -
