Hello, my name is Ailish [Removed by moderator - full name]. I'm 25 and I live in County Durham.
I am looking to meet local people who are a similar age to me to get to know, and possibly hang out with at a later date.
I've never been very successful with making friends, but hopefully, I'll have better chance here ... ??.

Hi @BrodyBrody2021 there is always someone to natter to here, have you tried local groups In your area? With same hobbies as you, that might be worth looking into.0
-
Hi Sandy, unfortunately there are not any local groups near me.0
-
Thats a shame, have you any hobbies? Might be something on at community centers0
-
Hi @BrodyBrody2021 I’m new to scope too!! I understand how you feel, but like @Sandy_123 said there’s always someone here to natter to.0

Hi @BrodyBrody2021
The coffee lounge is a great place to come to chat to other members. I hope you manage to find some likeminded people through this post, as well as through commenting on other people's posts and games.
I'm sorry that you haven't been able to find any in-person groups in your are as of yet. Where have you been looking? Have you ever looked on Meetup? There are usually some groups and events on there, or you could even set up your own.
As Sandy_123 has suggested, taking part in a hobby can be a great way of meeting people with similar interests to you. Is there anything you enjoy doing, or would like to try?
Just to let you know, I've edited your post to remove your full name. This is for the safety of you and other members.0 -
Good Morning my name is Chloe
I understand what it's like when it comes to making new friends but my mother said it is best to be with those who share your best interests at heart. There are Psych2go videos for you to research on YouTube on friendships for you to look at.
I needed help on learning the difference between real friends and fake friends. My mother did say that I need to be careful on who I trust which is good advice and I will be glad to share it with you.
I am keen to watch these videos to help me.
Which is why I needed more help on how to make new friends. What do you think?0 -
What I'm looking for in a friend and companion is someone who is willing to put their trust in others before themselves.

Hello Tori_Scope On Monday I got acquainted and befriended a new volunteer worker a 48 year old woman called Charmaine but I already befriended a black old lady called Bella and I respected her like a grandmother figure.0

Oh Tori_Scope I feel trapped in my isolation longing to make new friends and to share my life with them. Is there anything you can do to give me advice and to help me? I have a lot of friends at present and it's going to be complicated to make new acquaintances and friends. It's why I come to you hoping you would understand what it's like making friends and to meet new people.

It's good that you've become connected with someone new @chloeknight16071992. Is that through a befriending scheme?
Are you worried that you have too many friends, and that it might be difficult to meet more new people? Have I understood that right?
I can find it difficult to make new friends at times too. My best advice would be to join a club or group relating to something you're interested in, and meet people that way.0 -
Good Morning Tori_Scope
To answer your questions;
Is that through a befriending scheme? Yes it is.
Are you worried that you have too many friends, and that it might be difficult to meet more new people? Maybe yes and maybe no
Have I understood that right? Yes
I find it tricky to make new friends too just because I hardly know them and besides it's not like I'm rushing into things without jumping into any conclusions. I wish I could make new friends but there's only 3 problems; my mum, dad and my eldest sister they all wanted to protect me from anyone who would take advantage of me, play mind games with me and manipulate me.
I used to join in a club but things changed. I have to go.0 -
Hello Tori_Scope
I would like to have a word with you online about making new friends please.
When I'm at Scope I find it difficult to make new friends and my boss said and I quote that they come and go.
I wish I could make new video chats with any of my friends and that way I will not feel so bored and lonely.
I am lonely on the inside!0 -
Hi @chloeknight16071992, it's good to hear from you
Sorry that I seem to have missed your previous comment.
When I'm at Scope I find it difficult to make new friendsWould you be able to explain a little more about what you mean by this?my boss said and I quote that they come and go.Friends do sometimes come and go, as circumstances can change and people grow apart, or move away etc. That being said, it's nice to have longstanding friendships. They can be hard to maintain at times, but it's worth it if they're a good friend.I wish I could make new video chats with any of my friends and that way I will not feel so bored and lonely.Have you mentioned to your friends that you're interested in video calling them to chat?

Hi Chloe, It is difficult these days to make new friends. Best to join or start a social group that embodies your interests. Our group has only been running for a few weeks and we have new members. Just think of something that is close to your heart. Good luck!0

@BrodyBrody2021 Hi Ailish. I hope you are well. Sorry I only just came across your post.
I would love to make new friends, too. I have also always found it very difficult to make new friends apart from when I was younger at junior school for some reason loads of people were my friends there. Then we fell out and lost in touch with each other as years passed.
My dad on the other hand made loads of friends constantly although I do believe people tended to use him. So we have to also be careful where or how we look for friends
I found out during the five years I lived with my dad what characteristics one needs to make new friends; charitable, chatty and a great sense of humor, with great manners is what got many people to love my dad, but then some people- as already mentioned- would use this against him and use him. Others wanted to get away from him as not to chat too much. So moderation is best.
Then obviously there's nice and nasty people around too. We should watch out for
You might want to let people know your hobbies and interests to find someone with similar interests as you
If you want you can reply to this with your hobbies and interests in the hope of making some new friends on here
Take care and I hope you make loads of new friends 😊0 -
@chloeknight16071992 Hi Chloe. I hope you are well.
Sorry to hear that you feel lonely and bored. Many people are experiencing the same feelings as you during the current situation
Are you able to tell your friends that you want to make some video chats with them?
I hope all goes well for you.
