Hi there,

Just new to this & signed up as looking for bit of advice regarding change of personal details. My boyfriend is on DLA & Universal Credit & recently moved in with me & wants to change his GP to through here which is a different area & council. Does he need to inform the DLA & Universal Credit of this change? He lived with his parents previously so wasnt his house. Will this change of address & GP address affect any of the money hes receives for his benefits?

Kind regards

Hi and welcome to the community

As above his benefits could be affected as you will be classes as a couple so it depends on both of your circumstances

    Dla will not be affected

    Are you claiming benefits yourself?

    Thanks everyone for your replies.

@woodbine I found the benefit checker very helpful thank you. Yeah I'e changed single person council tax but think we recieve a discount on that as my partner is classed as disabled & cant work. He is registered blind.

@janer1967 Thanks for your input much appreciated. I didn't think his DLA would be affected.

@calcotti No I'm not claiming benefits, I work full time

To confirm then has he updated his UC claim and have you been added to it as joint claimants? Assuming this has been done have you recorded that you care for him, if he gets mid or high rate care DLA you are entitled to have the carer element included in the UC calculation.

If it's ESA the fact you care for him is not relevant given taht you work full time.
Is it contribution based/new style ESA or income based ESA?
If contribution based or new style ESA that is unchanged.
If any of his award is income based ESA he must inform them that he is now part of a couple and your income will be taken into account.
