Hello my daughter has numerous disabilities such as suspected autism, proprioception disorder and selective mutism, whilst we were out in public recently on two seperate occasions where members of the public phoned the police because she was acting out with her brother, instead of coming over to speak with us we had the police turn up saying someone had called them after witnessing her behaviour, they were understanding, we now feel as though we are unable to go out because of the predujice we have received, has anyone else experienced this.

Hi @melroxby and a warm welcome to our community, how are you doing?
I'm really sorry to hear about your experiences while out and about. I can understand how it's made you reluctant to go places incase similar happens again which is really unfortunate.
I know it's no consolation but I think a lot of people's quick judgements come from a place of lacking awareness of different conditions and/or being scared to ask questions upfront incase they offend someone. I completely get how you would prefer people to speak to you rather than call the police, and I hope the police were understanding of your daughters conditions when you explained.
I'd try not to let this deter you from going out - and I know that's easier said than done - but you and your family aren't doing anything wrong to fear. In-fact, you deserve quality time together as much as the next person, if not more. Would you feel comfortable going somewhere local to test the water again and begin rebuilding your confidence?
