Has anyone here ever been discriminated against in a hotel due to their disability?

Hi all,

I'm an ambulatory wheelchair user and I'm currently fighting a well known hotel chain after they discriminated against me during a recent stay.

However, I'm now curious to know just how widespread discrimination is in the hotel industry and weather the industry, as a whole, treats disabled people with the dignity and respect they are deserving of.

So obviously this leads back to the title:
Has anyone here ever been discriminated against in a hotel due to their disability?

The assumption is that disabled people like myself don't have a family. During the booking process, it is either an accessible room or a family room. I have to call the contact centre and negotiate for an additional bed to be placed in our accessible room for our child.

@woodbine Long story short: They failed to make reasonable adjustments to accommodate my wheelchair for breakfast.

The manager told me that my disabilities were "hard to cater for" and that "they have everyone else to consider".

During the same conversation, he said that I "should come to breakfast no later than 8:30" on both weekends and weekdays.

(For context: breakfast for guests is: 6:30 til 9:30 on weekdays & 7 til 10:30 on weekends)

There is a lot more I could add regarding this hotel but I'll leave it here for the time being.
