How to get proof I sent PIP form?

Hi all. I plan on sending off my PIP award review form in the next few days. I’ve left it quite late with 19 days till the deadline. Is it possible I can obtain proof that I posted the PIP form before the deadline? Is this even necessary? And what are the chances I post it and it somehow gets lost so they never receive it and just cancel my PIP? Thank you in advance! ?

You can get proof of posting at a post office. This doesn't confirm what you posted but is usually considered sufficient.
Most importantly keep a copy of what you are sending.

I have sent them form before the last date as well there was  no issue and after 3 weeks they have text me saying  they have received my pip form otherwise you can call them and ask of they have received or not so it's not very stressful
    Good luck

So you left it with one day to go and it turned out fine?

Sorry for sounding dumb but how does the proof of posting process work? Do I just walk into the post office, ask the worker for proof of posting for this envelope containing the PIP review form and evidence I’d like to send and then do I get a piece of paper saying you posted this post on this day/time? Do I have to stamp it or not because the PIP form says you don’t have to stamp it. But I wonder if for proof of posting you do.

Hi @Sam01 - you ask for a 'Certificate of Posting' at your Post Office. This is free, & you get like a till receipt with the date & address it's to be sent to for you to keep. As your PIP form comes with a Freepost envelope, then you don't need to buy any stamps even when asking for the 'Certificate of Posting.'
As above, keep a copy of everything you're sending 'just in case.' Royal Mail rarely goes missing, but this gives peace of mind. Please see: https://personal.help.royalmail.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/475/~/what-is-a-certificate-of-posting?

Thank you for your reply! So after I ask for a certificate of posting, do I get a piece of paper confirming that I sent this PIP form back on that date? I read somewhere you have to download the Royal Mail app. Is this necessary? And should I ask for certificate of posting or proof of posting (what the other person here mentioned)?

Ultimately proof of posting achieves nothing. In the unlikely event your form doesn’t arrive then waving around a slip saying “but I can prove I posted it” won’t resurrect the claim; won’t establish an earlier date of claim etc. The single most important thing you can do is keep a good quality copy.
I have seen everyone saying keep a copy which is a viable point but unfortunately I don’t have a photocopy machine and photocopying a 24 page booklet at a newsagent will be expensive. Plus is it possible to photocopy a booklet without damaging the original/dismantling the booklet into individual pages?

Hi @Sam01 - it's a 'Certificate of Posting.' This is dated, & yes, you keep this; it's just like a receipt, so in the unlikely event the DWP say they haven't received your PIP form you can show you posted to the given address on the date that's on your Certificate of Posting. You don't need to download a Royal Mail app.....this would just show it's been received at the depot that sorts DWP mail.

Hi @chiaroeds, sorry just one final question, after the worker gives me the certificate of posting do I then go to a red post box and insert the pip form into the post box myself or will the worker post the form themselves?

Hi Sam01 - after you ask for a Certificate of Posting, then the person in the Post Office will take your Pip form from you to be posted. So, you don't need to you post it yourself. :)
