You cannot claim Carer’s Allowance until DLA has been awarded (if it is).
if you do receive Carer’s Allowance it will be deducted in full from your Universal Credit so you really overall income will not be increased. You can however receive an extra amount in your UC called a carer element (£163/month) if she is awarded DLA (provided you do not already get the LCWRA element yourself). You do not need to claim Carer’s Allowance in order to get the carer element.
if you have not done so already you should inform UC that you have applied for DLA, this will make it easier to get the carer element backdated if the claim is successful.
If she gets DLA you may also be eligible for a disabled child element depending on what the DLA award is.0 -
If you work be aware that you cannot claim CA if you earn more than £128/week. There is no earnings limit for the carer element of UC.0

Previous thread from OP suggests they claim the LCWRA for their self. Therefore as caclotti has advised they won't be able to claim the carers element at the same time. Thread here. https://forum.scope.org.uk/discussion/84069/pip-and-lcwra/p1

I think it just makes advising a little easier.
