My daughter will be 16 in Feb 22.  I keep getting told that I should apply for PIP as the DLA runs out when she turns 16.  However, it states once they turn 16 you will be invited to apply for PIPs, does anyone know which one it is please?

Hi and welcome to the community

She will be invited to apply for pip but if you are concerned that you haven't heard anything then give them a call

Hello @Sem and welcome to the community, it's nice to see you join us.

Sorry to hear that this is causing you confusion, this page on the Scope website contains the below extract:

Shortly after your child’s 16th birthday, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will send a letter inviting them to apply for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) by a certain date.

So it seems as though you will be invited by the DWP to apply, hopefully this helps.

How is your daughter managing with her CP? We do have a category dedicated to the condition so you might want to get involved over there :)

She's not 16 yet, which is why she hasn't been invited to apply. Once she reaches 16 a letter should be received. You then ring PIP to start the claims process. DLA continues until a decision's been made on the PIP providing you apply and return the forms on time.

Thank you all I will wait. I just had conflicting advice so wasn't sure which way to go.  I will wait to be invited.

Thanks for getting back to us, it can certainly be quite confusing when you receive conflicting advice, but hopefully the replies on this thread have helped to put your mind at ease.

I hope to see you getting involved around the community, I would advise browsing our virtual coffee lounge and getting involved with the many Christmas themed games :)
