Do you have any New Year traditions?

I think my New Year 'traditions' are quite boring. I'm not a big fan of New Year's Eve/Day, so I usually stay in and watch the Hootenanny, and then switch over to watch the fireworks in London. I'll sometimes have some Buck's Fizz if I've got any sparkling wine in, or another drink I enjoy. My Dad used to make us a fry up on New Year's Day, which is something I've considered starting to do again as a treat.

Do you have any traditions for New Year's Eve or Day?

Whether you usually go on a big night out, prefer a quiet night in, or sleep through it, I want to know what your traditions are :)

Through my teens and early 20s it was traditional to go to a family party.

Since than I have not done anything. New Year isn’t really celebrated or anything, it will more than likely involve a takeaway and a box set on Netflix whilst on the sofa.

That sounds like a nice New Years to me @MarkM88 :) Are you watching anything good at the moment? I want to watch the new series 'Landscapers', but I don't have a way of watching it currently!

@Tori_Scope I’ve not heard of that series. At the moment I’m watching designated survivor.

It's a new one with Olivia Coleman in it @MarkM88, but it's being shown on Sky Atlantic. It's based on the true story of the 1998 murders of William and Patricia Wycherley.

I haven't heard of Designated Survivor- I'll have to give it a watch.

I will probably go to sleep, hopefully wake up just before midnight to see the new year in, then back to sleep again :D

I did used to have a tradition that was to go for a drive and be out in the car when the new year came in :)

I get as bit tired now though!!

I tend to stay in and try to make sure the degus are OK when the fireworks start.  Its usually the only way I know its midnight; that and my neighbours screaming happy new year out of the windows.

@Tori_Scope I believe it’s available on Now TV however I know that is a paid service and no idea of costs or whether you can get a free trial.

    we're having xmas dinner     again.

We like to have a special dinner/roast for New Year's Day too @woodbine, that and a few board games! We never tend to stay up late though on New Year's Eve. That way we make the most of the day itself :)

It's just my daughter and myself. Chinese takeaway is on the menu for this evening, the usual New years Eve takeway. We do usually stay up to see the new year in, although i'm not usually in bed before midnight anyway.
Tomorrow will be roast lamb dinner with home made mint sauce :)

I also like watching Jools Holland's Hootenany & then the fireworks. Just cat, Shadow & I, tho will stay up to text my son & wife, daughter & best friend after midnight to wish them a Happy New Year. I've only once been to a New Year's Eve party, which I didn't particularly enjoy. However back in the day, I remember having a tall, dark haired man 'first foot' was considered lucky. My son fits the criteria, but is away until Sunday...... I'll have to keep my door firmly locked until then! :)
Oh, & I do like a bit of roast lamb with my mint sauce, so slightly envious of Jane & Poppy. :)
