Hi all

What have you got planned or hoping to do for your holidays this year

Due to uncertainty of any travel restrictions we have decided to sort of play it safe

Booked a week in Isle of Wight in an accessible bungalow with hot tub .

Thought with the ferry crossing would feel a bit like going abroad lol

I don't have any particular holiday plans for this year, but I hope to visit a few places locally. I've got a little list of things I want to see. I also went camping for the first time properly last year and really enjoyed that, so I might try and get another trip in :)

I hope you enjoy your trip to the Isle of Wight! I went a few years ago with some friends and we had a great time. We got lucky with the weather, too - I hope it's the same for you. I agree that getting the ferry can make it feel like a trip abroad, and getting a change of scenery is always refreshing.

No plans for me either at the moment. I did look at booking last year for a holiday abroad but because things were/are so uncertain i put it off. At the moment i'm looking at booking somewhere for next year with my daughter but it will be abroad somewhere.

I hope you enjoy your holiday. Never been to Isle of Wight.

One of my children has been offered a job in the USA and so we may go to visit for a couple of weeks this year. Early days though, it may not happen.

To be honest it would be a major major thing for me because i hardly ever ever leave the house let alone go to America. I’m definitely not happy about the idea but I’m under pressure to say I’d go. Difficult.

@leecal I am in a similar situation as lots of family are going away and I have been offered a place if I want to come. Very generous but I would find it really hard for several different reasons so am erring on the side of saying no thanks.

@woodbine fingers crossed you can go this year

@poppy123456 I agree probably best waiting till next year

@leeCal what a great opportunity for your child I've been to USA once b4 I was disabled but they do cater well for disabled people but I understand would be hard if your m9t used to going out

@66Mustang maybe going with family would be the best option

I’ve been thinking about a short break in the north of Scotland. At the end of august last year I went to Nairn and had a day trip to Inverness.

What a lovely discussion @janer1967 I'm very fond of the Isle of Wight, a childhood favourite :)

I'm hoping to fly off to Crete in September, it's somewhere I've always wanted to go.

I’m hoping to go Las Vegas or New York, probably will leave that till 2023 though and go Greece this year for the uncertainty but definitely want to get away for a week. Especially since I don’t really go out too much anyway.

    Hi @janer1967

I’m sure you suggest this with the best intention but I’m really sure I wouldn’t be able to cope :( The issues I have are I wouldn’t have my bedroom to escape to when needed when things get too intense and I wouldn’t have my own sink (or bathroom) like I do at home which means I would not cope with my OCD. Also one of the family members going I find really hard to cope with due to their bad moods and I’d have nowhere to go to get away when they get angry. I think my stomach issues would be bad too and I wouldn’t be able to have a wash after a particularly bad number 2 like I can at home. I also find gatherings with extended family really hard, I can do a half day at a push but not 2 weeks.

I appreciate them inviting me but just don’t think I would be able to cope. :(

Some close family are staying at home so I wouldn’t be alone at home so I think I’m better off at home.

I forgot we are planning a short Scotland (highlands) trip with just me and close family going which will be easier, it was for my birthday in 2020 but we didn’t get to go. I have saved up a bit more money since so maybe can make it even better

@66Mustang that highlands trip sounds fantastic, I've never been that far north in Scotland, but from TV shows I've seen the landscape looks incredible :) Just think of all the extra haggis you can buy now that you've saved up  :D

    @alex_scope

I have only seen it on TV and internet too but I agree it looks really nice up there and there looks to be some good driving roads as well

I have a family member in London who I visit once a year and it’s brilliant since there’s always something to do

@66Mustang sorry didn't mean to offend I only mentioned as I remember you saying about your planned birthday trip to Scotland so thought you were OK with going away with family

I totally understand your issues but there are suitable places if you look

We are going in bungalow with 2 bedrooms so my son has his own room with ensuite bathrooms

Would this sort of holiday suit you better

    I don’t do going abroad, haven’t been since I was 8.

I do however want to go back to York.

@bg844 my daughter lives there. I've exhausted myself every time I go, all the history there and places to visit. Apparently there is a pub there that survived the great fire, that I want to visit. Don't ask me where, I read it recently.

    It is indeed exhausting @Sandy_123

I always find going a challenge don’t get me wrong but when I get back and I feel well again I do like memories, hope you have a nice time when you do go. My favourite place to visit 100% is London Dungeons, I go every time!

Hi @janer1967 no no offence caused just wanted to explain the issues. I’m OK going away with immediate family but not so much with extended family.

Yes that sort of place is much more suitable, we will be finding something like that in Scotland:smiley:
