I am hoping someone can offer me some advice as I feel like I've hit a brick wall. I am housebound due to arthritis and I have been unable to use our over the bath shower for two years now due to being unable to get into the bath because of my arthritic knees. I have been assessed by an occupational therapist but they say the local council can't help me with a walk in shower and that its the housing association's responsibility, the problem is they have told me that its upto the council to take care of this. Meanwhile I'm only able to keep myself clean by sponging myself down and I've now been doing this for over two years and its now becoming difficult for me to evan do this. This really is getting me down, I'm only 54 years old and between this, the pain and being confined to the home im beginning to feel like a prisoner.

    Hi and welcome

Could you not use a bath seat one that lifts you up and down to get you into the bath or just use it as a seat for the shower

I have one as I am an amputee and use it both for bath and shower

Ot provided mine but you can buy them from disability aid shop

Hello @lollearich. How are you getting on, have you made any progress with either the council or housing association? If not, it might be worth you contacting Shelter who may be able to advise whether this would be your local council or your HA's responsibility. They have a live chat option as well as telephone numbers you could call.

Best of luck and please let us know how you're getting on.
