Hi
I have been awarded LCWRA, I am also a carer for my son and I was receiving the carer's element of UC.
The carer's element stopped when I was awarded LCWRA.
I submitted my UC50 on 22 March 2021 and was awarded LCWRA on 11th Jan 2022, I have been submitting fit notes since 23rd Feb 2021.
Will I be awarded backdated LCWRA and if so will that be reduced by the amount I was receiving from the carer's element,
Thankyou

Hi,There's a full 3 month assessment period waiting time for the LVCWRA element and then it's paid from the 4th month of your claim starting from when you first reported your health condition. Depending on the dates of your assessment periods and without knowing those dates your extra money will be from either June or July 2021.Yes, you are correct you will recieve the difference between carers element and LCWRA which is £179.90 per month. Going forward you will receive the LCWRA element instead. This is assuming you're not claiming UC with a partner that already claims LCWRA on your UC.0

If you have a partner on your claim they could now claim the carer element for looking after your son.0

Thankyou, my husband died of Covid in Dec 2020, so there is no partner on my claim. I do claim for our daughter who is 18 and in full time education0

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your husband @Jads, that must be extremely difficult to deal with. Are you receiving enough support to help you process your grief?
I hope that calcotti's comment has helped to clear that up for you. Please do let us know if you have any further questions.0 -
