I applied for pip on the 13th Aug 2021 I suffer from tumours and degenerative disc disorder ptsd depression and severe anxiety I am housebound and can't leave the house without someone with me. Incase I fall or have a panic attack. When I applied for pip I was unaware that I would have to wait for so long for my assessment I got severe anxiety when the letter came for the appointment as I thought I would have to go to a center and I never had anyone who could take me so I called pip who reassured me and where very kind as I broke down on the phone that it would be a telephone assessment. My appointment date eventually came which was the 18th Jan 2022 I was very anxious and worried and tearful and very nervous and I found the questions very invasive and upsetting to be fair the assessor was very patient and seemed to understand but I am on a lot of painedication and in a lot of pain so I get a lot of confusion and I felt that they where a lot of trick questions. I answered best to my ability. She said she wanted to reach out to my Dr as she felt I needed more support. A week later I received a text from dwp to say they had received her report and it will take up to 8 weeks for final decision to be made. I am now worried that I having waited for so long they are going to refuse pip after I was brutally honest about my ptsd and mental health issues it will just feel like a kick in the teeth.

The waiting is (regrettably) completely normal. It can take up to 12 weeks to get a decision after the assessment.0
