How do you feel about the government lifting coronavirus restrictions?

Great. So numbers are skyrocketing (up 200%+ in 2 days where I live), yet the Government's attitude seems to be "don't worry about catching Covid if you're CEV - we'll give you some pills to make it all better"? Never mind that some CEV people - and their carers and/or loved ones - might prefer not to take the risk in the first place? We still don't know what the effects of Long Covid long-term are going to be, either. I'd been getting out and about again at something approximating a reasonably normal level after months of shielding, and now I'm going to have to go back into relative purdah again in the hopes that the CEV person I live with doesn't catch Covid? It's fine to say take an LFT before you meet someone, but that assumes you're in a one-to-one situation or similar. What if you're in a crowded bar/theatre/concert/conference venue, where you can't guarantee either that the people around you are Covid-free or will have taken an LFT?0

I have been self isolating now for two years with my wife & have avoided Covid completely and it seems to have been a total waste of time!!0

Important to say that Covid-19 is a virus, so important to distinguish between bacterial & viral infections. I think families who have lost loved ones due to this Coronavirus may argue that it was 'no worse than a cold.'Your argument that our government, & perhaps also the World Health Organisation, over hyped this to cause fear, to control us, is misinformation.... millions of people have died worldwide due to Covid-19.It's really no surprise that an ordinary cloth face mask is less effective than a FFP2 mask in protecting the user; cloth masks may only protect the user in that if someone has Covid-19 then it may minimise the spread of their droplets if they're wearing one. Then again, some people disperse droplets more effectively than others, which hasn't been taken into the equation with this study. However maintaining distance between ourselves & others therefore arguably has also helped. If you have read all of the Bristol University's paper: https://aip.scitation.org/doi/10.1063/5.0074229then you are a better person than I Gunga Din. Of note, however, is one of the author's conflicts of interest......the study also needs to be peer reviewed. The rest of your comment is just conspiracy theory.0
