Hi I’m new here 👋
Just a thought - are timescales different in different areas?

@Teddybear12 thanks!
@woodbine not really compared to others, claim form received by DWP 16/11/21, telephone assessment 10/02/22 and text from DWP to say they had received report on 11/02/22.0 -

Your timescale has been very quick compared to a lot of other members here. Timescale for decision is anything up to 12 weeks. If it's first time claim without transferring from DLA and you're successfully awarded payment is usually received in the bank before the decision letter.

Interestingly, I live rurally and there is a problem with my post so I have to ring every couple of weeks as letters aren’t guaranteed here. Everytime I call I get told a different time by the call centre. First it was 8-12 weeks, then 4-6 weeks and then 3 weeks average. I know from here it’s anything up to 12 weeks.I’m currently on week 5 since assessment.They also tell me a different date they received the report- anything from the day it was completed to 10 days later.
If you are able to, I’d wait for a letter or payment as the calls can be stressful and the information isn’t accurate0 -
That will be because there’s no timescales so when you ring each person is just guessing and telling you a random timescale.Tiredmum42 said:Everytime I call I get told a different time by the call centre. First it was 8-12 weeks, then 4-6 weeks and then 3 weeks average.0 -

my weekly check in and the lady told me that they should award ‘soon’ but he could see by the report it’s going to be a favourable decision. I questioned this and said that the case manager hasn’t made the decision but she told me they always follow the report unless there’s a ‘big discrepancy’.
I know from reading here that this isn’t always the case. I think the call centres pluck random information from thin air0 -

To be honest, the best thing to do is try to forget about it and think of something else because ringing them all the time just causes more anxiety and it won't make the decision come any quicker.

Totally agree. It’s difficult though having to phone due to postal issue. Otherwise I’d just wait for the letter and get in with things. At the minute we have a real issue with post going missing and not turning up so I could be waiting and be non the wiser. I only call weekly to fortnightly I haven’t got time to be on hold up to an hour in the middle of the day.poppy123456 said:Tiredmum42 said:
