My son has multiple health conditions. Is there any support for children with disabilities?

Hi! I'm mum to a 9 year old who has multiple health issues including a renal condition. He was born very prematurely and has global development delay and a recent diagnosis of ADHD. Is anyone aware of any support for children with disabilities? I think it would be really beneficial for my son to interact with other children living with long-term conditions. He's at the age now where his peers are becoming aware that he is very different to them.

Welcome to the community @ellie75
It's great to have you on board!
You may find this page on the NHS website about children and young people's services helpful. It contains some information around some of the kinds of support that's available, and how you can access it.
Have you spoken to your GP or local council about this at all? They can sometimes be best placed to point you towards any local services you could access. Local charities are often another good option, too. Contact could be another organisation worth getting in touch with.
You may also be interested in looking into one of our family services, such as Navigate or Parents Connect, to get advice from other parents in a similar position.
Is he receiving enough support at school?
Just to let you know, I've moved your post into our category for discussions relating to children, parents, and families. This is where many of the posts from fellow parents and carers on the community are, so it might be worth having a look through the posts in this category.0 -
