Backpayment not received

Hi. I recently became eligible for severe disability premium and got a letter to say £4000 was owed to me. However they were holding this back to see if there was a possible historic overpayment.
I waited a few weeks and have rang ESA & debt management to be told i don't owe anything to any departments, but they can't find the payment. I keep getting told to call back,and passed back & forth, but the backpay i was looking forward to, is lost, and neither ESA or debt management know where it is

Thanks for your reply & suggestion Woodbine, yes they do have all my correct details. There's been no mention that they've sent me the payment, as both departments think the other is still dealing with it. Very frustrating as it's been 4/5 weeks now.
