My mum finds it hard to engage with others face to face. Can we request a telephone assessment?

Hi there,

im helping my mum with her change of circumstances pip form and have sent it off, I’m in the process of helping her get her medical records together to find evidence  etc.

I believe that the DWP have started doing face to face assessments again, and I’m wondering is it possible to request a telephone assessment? The reason would be because she finds it hard to engage with others face to face… and i think even having an at home assessment with an assessor would be hard for her.

I'm not aware of home assessments starting back up yet anyway. Some assessments are taking place through telephone, it depends on the individual case but more are taking place face to face now. You can certainly ask. However, there's huge backlogs for assessments so it maybe quite sometime before she's contacted regarding an appointment.
Medical records are only useful if they state exactly how your conditions affect you and most don't. You're far better off adding a couple of real world incidents for each descriptor that applies to her. Include information such as where she was, what exactly happened, did anyone see it and what the consequences were.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

Hi. I have agoraphobia and have requested my assessment to be changed to telephone and they were understanding and happy to do it.
Just need to call them
