Hi there
I have had 4 today the number that calls is always the first 5 numbers of your own number
This time mine started with a call from a number +397 code which I stupidly answered as couldn't see number calling at time , they just hung up. This then let's them know the number they tried is a valid number
Then the other calls come using the first 5 digits of your own number with recorded amazon message
Do not press 1 as the message states hang up and block the number3 -
I have several a day, they use all these reasons on me, my life insurance update, sky, housing repairs, and others, all wanting information, the sky one wanted to give me a better deal, just needed my passwords, mothers maiden name. Told them where to go. I block their numbers then they use different ones. Then the emails, tv licensing, amazon. It gets rediculas.2

Yes i agree it's a mine field out there with people trying to scam others.
My friend had a phone call the other day, claiming to be from the post code lottery saying she had won a large amount of money and they needed to put it in her bank account - she doesn't play the lottery. But you can see were people could get conned its awful.3 -
Its become more and more frequent in the last 2 years .You really need to be on the ball with these phone calls . They will try every trick to con you . I dont speak and hang up .Stay safe everyone 😊1

Thank you for all the comments
just a quick update the call came through on my husband mobile phone yesterday1 -
Thanks for sharing this experience @marybottomley
It's useful for our members to know and be aware of - I've had a few scam calls recently and it's not nice receiving them and trying to understand if they're legitimate or scammers. If I'm unsure of the phone number, I normally don't answer it and always think that if it's important/urgent, they will most likely leave a voicemail etc.1 -
Me too @Libby_Scope I use an answerphone and they never leave a message. I think if it’s genuine they’ll leave one.
I remember once once I was told by an Indian gentleman that My Microsoft computer had broken the internet! If only I could 🤣. Once I answered with gobblegook...there was a pause ...and then he said yes! 😂 so funny.
Someone i knew used to ask them to hold for a moment and then put his radio up against the phone and leave it on for twenty mins or so. They deserve it.2 -
I do answer the phone and tell them I know there trying to scam, which they deny. Or I tie them in knots n they hang up.3

I just block the numbers now, they try different numbers and they get blocked. It's a good 5 calls a day. No point telling them they just keep ringing. I had email from Microsoft yesterday telling me to log in, with a Hotmail address. Just deleted.0
