Hi and welcome to the community
Yes that is correct you can only get 1 element of lcwra in a claim even if both of you are both awarded0 -
Do either of you receive DLA or PIP?0

If your PIP claim is successful and you're award includes the daily living part then your partner can claim the carers element and you can claim the LCWRA element.

It would be sensible for your wife to report to UC now that she cares for you and that you have applied for PIP. That will make it easier for her to get the carer element of UC backdated should you get an award of daily living PIP.0

tales1979 said:How far back can lcwra be backdatedAs previously advised, you won't be able to claim 2 LCWRA elements. Only 1 can be claimed per claim.Your wife should report being your carer, as advised, then the LCWRA element can be paid to you but you won't receive any backdated money. If you're then awarded daily living PIP your wife can then claim the carers element for looking after you.0

I see. There's a 3 month waiting period and the extra money is paid from the 4th month of your claim. When it's paid from will depend on what date the health condition was reported and the dates of your assessment periods.
