Confused about my ESA decision

Hi all 😊

Just wondered if someone could shed some clarity on the decision I got from me assessment for ESA.

I recieved a letter in my Journal saying this “Following your Work Capability Assessment, we have decided that you have limited capability for work and work- related activity. This means we will not ask you to look for work.

Does this mean I will be put into the support group? It doesn’t actually state which group, just that I will not be asked to look for work.

Many thanks for taking your time to read 😊

Hello @Floydiee1995 thanks for posting your query, I'm afraid this isn't my area of expertise, so I can only advise you to make a note in your journal to ask, or speak to your UC adviser.

How do you feel about how the assessment went, and are you pleased with the decision? :)

If you need a hand with anything else in the meantime, please do say.

LCWRA is otherwise known as ESA Support Group. Are you claiming New style ESA as well as UC or just UC?

    Hi Alex,

Very happy with the decision. Just a shame because I was awarded maximum points for ESA but I was scored 0 on both components of PIP back in March last year (silly me didn’t go for MR) but my circumstances have changed massively so will be going for PIP again.

You weren't awarded maximum points for ESA as such because for LCWRA/Support Group it's not about scoring points. You can see my advice about this in my comment to you on another thread here. https://forum.scope.org.uk/discussion/comment/494484#Comment_494484

Thanks poppy I will take a look. Oh maybe I got that wrong then. I thought it was also a point system of 15 to get LCWRA.

Although does my original post mean I’m going to get LCWRA?

Still a bit confused as read stuff in other forums where money has gone from fortnightly for esa to monthly once put in LCWRA?

Sorry, forgot to answer that. It does get confusing with simialar threads on the same questions.

Your ESA will continue as normal and be deducted in full from any UC entitlement. You will need to tell ESA then you've been found to have LCWRA and they will place you into the Support Group. For ESA you will receive £114.10 per week from the 14th week of your claim.
For UC you will receive the LCWRA element from the 4th month after you reported your health condition.
When it's paid from exactly will depend on what date exactly you reported your health condition and the dates of your assessment periods (or when you usually receive your money each month)

Thanks so much for clarifying for me. So I need to contact ESA to inform them of my LCWRA element? Is that correct

Yes you need to inform ESA that you've been found to have LCWRA because of a work capability assessment with UC.
