Pip refused. What kind of information do we need to include in a mandatory reconsideration?

morning all,
absolutely deflated after being told this morning they refused my pip claim. I’m so upset. How can they make judgement without living in our shoes on a daily basis. I’ve asked for my report. And will also ask for a mandatory reconsideration. What kind of information do we need to include in that, can anyone help.

For the MR you should put the request in writing stating where and why you think you should have scored those points. When you filled out the form if you didn't add a couple of real world incidents of exactly what happened the last time you attempted that activity for each descriptor that applies. Also include information such as where you were, what exactly happened, did anyone see it and what the consequences were. You don't need the assessment report at all because all it causes is a distraction when writing the MR.It's a claimants responsibility to prove you qualify, not theirs.0

Hello @gemd thanks for reaching out, I'm sorry to hear about the result of your PIP application.
You've taken a really positive step forward in asking for advice, so make sure you take time to look after yourself and process what's happened, as I know it's very upsetting.
One of the best places to go to for advice before you start the Mandatory Reconsideration process is AdviceLocal where you can search for professional advisers.
If you'd like to challenge your PIP decision, Turn2Us explains everything step by step, I hope you'll find it useful to have a look through.
It's also a good idea to write down any detailed examples you have of times you tried to carry out each of the PIP descriptors. Describe any consequences of trying to do these too. What they'll be assessing is the impact of your condition or disability on your ability to carry out the descriptors, rather than just a diagnosis.
Does that make sense? Let me know if I've missed anything, or if you have any other questions, and we'll do our best to help.

Thank you so much! It’s so soul destroying, the whole wait from start to finish. Thank you I will get the forms , have a read of them and come back for advise. Thanks again0

Hi everyone.
i Hope everyone is well and enjoying the lovley weather?
i wanted to ask what may be a simple question, but I’m really confused..
i have just submitted my MR, and because it’s making me really anxious. I was just looking at my points scored.for example each activity has 6 descriptor.. so for example moving around: I was scored b (4) but I told the assessor that I need a aid and cannot walk for more than 20 metres without wanting to sit down or holding onto my son, trolley or crutch. - so this states 10 on Google. Is this correct.. so I’ve worked out for daily living I should have scored 28. Which is 12 or more
and mobility I should have scored 14 which is also 12 or more..
does this sound about right? Or have I rallied them up incorrectly0 -
Not all activities have 6 descriptors. Some have 4,5,6 or even 7. You can only score points once per activity. You can see them here. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/Global/Migrated_Documents/adviceguide/pip-9-table-of-activities-descriptors-and-points.pdfIt helps to have some understanding of the descriptors because it's very easy to overscore and even underscore yourself. These links may help. https://pipinfo.net/#activitiesgemd said:I was scored b (4) but I told the assessor that I need a aid and cannot walk for more than 20 metres without wanting to sit down or holding onto my son, trolley or crutch. -
This here, why can you only walk this distance? What exactly happened the last time you attempted that activity? Did anyone see it, where were you, what were the consequences? You need to give at least 2 real world incidents for each descriptor that you think applies.

i was I was surprised too. They cleared security. Asked me if I’d stayed overnights in hospital or prison. Asked me to confirm sort code as backdated pay from November 2021 will be in by mid week next week and award letter will take 1-2 weeks. She even said at the end that I can relax now as 32 weeks waiting is along time. I guess I’ll have to see.0
