Does anyone know if DLA is linked to PIP? my concern is I am currently on PIP.I had a baby 4 years ago while on pip, although its been a really tough struggle, I some how managed to cope.
It now seems my son has Autism, confirmed by specialists. He does need extra attention and time, at times I feel overwhelmed but I wouldn’t change him for the world.I was advised I could get extra help by applying for DLA for him, as they know how much my son needs the extra attention.
My concern is if I do this will PIP wonder how I am coping?considering my own needs. I do not wish for my own benefit to stop or be called in for another health assessment if it means that could be a possibility. At times I am finding it a real struggle but I never let people know that I am, as I do not want to be judged or have social services involved. The dad is not involved in our lifes and does not want to know. He will not even visit my son as he said he is too much to cope with.

Claiming DLA for your son will have no impact on your PIP.1

Hello @Sophiap1991 and welcome to the community, thanks for reaching out today.
I'm not an expert on benefits, but I would say that your PIP and your son's DLA would be considered separately, and one would not impact the other.
I'm sorry to hear your son's dad isn't very open to supporting you both, and that you are finding things a struggle at times. If you do feel like you're not getting enough support, you would be entitled to ask for help, and no one would judge you for it.
Scope does offer family support services, and I'd encourage you to have a look if you ever feel like it would be helpful. If there's anything you'd still like a hand with, please ask.

Hi @Sophiap1991 PIP & DLA are not means tested benefits so an application for your son should not have any affect on what you receive for PIP, or vice versa.0
