i was in possession of a mobility scooter for past 2 years i have had a about 7 claims due to damage and criminal damage to the scooter until eventually it was stolen and when i hoped after waiting the 21 days for the insurance company to right it off i was then told that i couldn't have another scooter on Motability because rsa would not insure me and due to a bad credit rating i have been unable to get another scooter through other means thus far i have tried to ascertain from rsa exactly what they have refused to insure me and have had no luck so how am i supposed to appeal a decision when i am unable to find out why they have refused me in the first place any advice would be very much appreciated

    Hi,
Yes, unfortunately, RSA motability can do this if you've had too many insurance claims, which is very likely why they've now refused you. Without the insurance you can't have a mobility scooter.
I have a mobility car and during the 2.5 years of having it i've had to claim 3 times, through no fault of my own. A few months ago i received a letter from them saying they are assessing my claim to see if i'm allowed another lease when this current one ends. Thankfully, i didn't go against me but if i had claimed again then it probably would have.
Unfortunately, i don't think there's anything you can do about this. Have you looked on gumtree or facebook in your area to see if anyone's selling a mobility scooter cheap. There's often lots of them available for less than a £100.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.
