PIP mandatory reconsideration

Hi everyone, sorry if I’m posting in the wrong place. I’m not too good with things like this. I’m just wondering if anyone has had any good stories about their PIP claim? I had to put in a mandatory reconsideration unfortunately. I suffer with severe anxiety, agoraphobia and BPD. My assessor wrote down completely different answers and said I sounded fine during the phone call. I’m unsure what she expected me to be doing but this caused severe stress for me. I sort of slipped through the net as a kid as I experienced a lot of emotional abuse so to see I scored 0 really did upset me. I have provided numerous letters dating all the way back to 2006 even if they weren’t relevant just to show an insight. I’m only 23 and I don’t have a life whatsoever, I work from home which will stop soon due to everybody going back to office which I can’t do as I won’t leave the house. I’m aided in everything by my partner as my anxiety causes blackouts and I was still scored 0. I’m so worried waiting for the decision and I can’t get it off my mind.

Hi @NicTool and welcome to the community :) It's great to have you here, and you have posted in the right place don't worry.

There are plenty of members who have had success with their PIP applications after needing to do an MR or a tribunal here, you can browse our PIP category to find them, and hopefully some of our members can reassure you that all is not lost yet.

I'm sorry to hear that your PIP scores weren't as high as you were hoping, was it a 0 for both daily living and mobility- just so that I've fully understood? There's plenty of advice and guidance out there for the next steps you can take to challenge the decision, Turn2Us explains them nicely.

I'd also encourage you to search on AdviceLocal for professional advice, and if you'd like to talk through everything you can always call or email the Scope Helpline for support as well.

I'm sorry to hear that the process caused you distress, and about what happened to you in the past. Can you tell me if you're getting any support for managing your anxiety at the moment?

I am glad to hear that you've been able to carry on working from home. Have you discussed flexible working options or reasonable adjustments with anyone you work with at all? Scope has some information on reasonable adjustments which you may find helpful to read.

It's difficult to focus on other things when we're worried, but you've done a really positive thing in reaching out for support. Please ask if you feel we can help further with anything, and keep us updated with how you get on.
