LCWRA Reassessment

Hi everyone,
I’m posting on behalf of a family member who I’ve been helping with their UC/LCWRA application.
I’m posting on behalf of a family member who I’ve been helping with their UC/LCWRA application.
UC was applied for in December 2019. LCWRA was awarded in August 2021 due to covid pandemic delays and from having to request a mandatory reconsideration. LCWRA was backdated to March 2020 due to the 3 month rule. The mandatory reconsideration letter says the reassessment date is in 26 months.
My question is when does the 26 months start from? Is it March 2020 when LCWRA was backdated to or August 2021 when the mandatory reconsideration was completed?
My family member isn’t looking forward to the reassessment as it was a long stressful fight that impacted on their heath conditions just to get LCWRA awarded in the start.

LCWRA is an ongoing award until a new decision says otherwise. The timescale they give is nothing more than a guide, although you can be reassessed anytime from 3 months. At the moment reviews are on hold because of the backlogs of claimants waiting for their first work capability assessment.
When the next review is due they will receive a letter on their journal telling them they’re being referred for a WCA. They will then receive the forms a few days later in the post.3 -
Thanks for that.
So the fact that it says 26 months next to “reassessment” means nothing and it could be due at anytime?

Yes indeed. It's just a guide. Which is the reason why the decision letters never have timescales on them. However, as advised reviews are currently on hold.

As i advised, reassessments are not taking place at the moment. This is because there's huge backlogs of people still waiting for their first WCA. LCWRA has no end date, it's an ongoing award until a new decision says otherwise.

Does anyone have any idea how long they’re on hold until? I saw someone saying they’re on hold until next year (2024), but I’m finding it so difficult to find any info0

There's no official information anywhere on the internet that suggests they have started back up. Once they do then i'm sure we'll all hear about it. Until then i'm afraid there's nothing anyone can do but wait. When they do start back there will be huge backlogs so you may not be contacted anytime soon but who knows.

Does anyone (particularly anyone with inner knowledge) know if they’ve started back up again? Also, are they usually reassessed right at the prognosis/recommended end date, or is it ever later?0

Timescales are just a guide and it doesn't mean you'll be reviewed at that time. Many people are reviewed after their recommended time, especially since 2020 because they were suspended for a very long time. When they do start back for everyone there will naturally be backlogs.0 -
Thanks so much Poppy! You’re a star ⭐️
I have one more quick question for anyone in the know. I just logged onto my account to see this message. I’ve never had it before, and I was awarded lcwra a year ago almost to the day - is it just random to get it out of the blue? Or is it a sign my lcwra is about to be reviewed (even after what Poppy said - my paranoia is horrendous, ironically due to my disability haha)

@evelyncourtney You're welcome. For this you need to be claiming daily living PIP or DLA mid/high rate care and need regular overnight care. If you do then it maybe possible to claim for extra help with your rent, if there's a shortfall in housing element.0
